Join the Arab Land Initiative at the Twelfth World Urban Forum (WUF12) and attend the networking event “Fostering Resilience by Protecting and Recording Housing, Land & Property Rights in the Arab Region” taking place on Tuesday, 5 November 2024, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM, at Multipurpose Room 15.

The session will explore the vital role of protecting and digitizing Housing, Land, and Property (HLP) rights in building resilience and promoting sustainable development across the Arab region. Case studies from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, and the UAE will shed light on the challenges and successful approaches in safeguarding HLP rights amidst the impacts of climate change, conflict, and socio-economic crises.

This event aims to highlight the challenges and opportunities in safeguarding and digitizing HLP rights, while promoting peer-to-peer knowledge exchange on community-driven solutions. It will also emphasize the importance of rights-based approaches grounded in international humanitarian law and explore the roles of various stakeholders, in fostering a collaborative, whole-of-society approach to addressing these critical issues.

The event will be held in Arabic, with English-Arabic interpretation available. Participation is in-person only, with streaming accessible via the WUF app for registered participants.
