Nairobi, 3rd of June 2024 – UN-Habitat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, through the Netherlands Enterprise and Development Agency (RVO), consolidated their collaboration in support of the knowledge management component of the Arab Land Initiative, complementing the financial support of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ).

Under the auspices of the of the Land-at-Scale Programme, this contribution agreement running until December 2025 aims to foster knowledge creation and dissemination in the Arab region, bolstering the overarching objectives of the Arab Land Initiative. Specifically, the collaboration seeks to support the organization of the Third Arab Land Conference and two additional events on land governance; the development of research papers and the creation of a new Research Innovation Fund; and to enhance the curricula of land-related courses by increasing the availability and accessibility of relevant resources. 

The partnership between UN-Habitat, GLTN and RVO underscores a shared commitment to promoting sustainable development, peace, stability and climate resilience in the Arab region through effective land governance practices, by fostering greater alignment and coordination among land-related initiatives and by empowering land stakeholders in the region.
