From the first days of the COVID-19 pandemic in Palestine, the Palestinian Authority adopted strict precautionary measures, including closing affected workplaces, following flexible working modalities to meet timelines and deadlines. The Land and Water Settlement Commission (LWSC) was not an exception. The LWSC with the support of UN-Habitat under the framework of the EU-funded programme: “Achieving Planning and Land Rights in Area C, West Bank – Palestine (2019-2023)”, prepared a Recovery Plan to respond to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan analyses the ramifications and risks of the pandemic and puts forward ways of recovery focused on ensuring that LWSC succeed in meeting its strategic goal of completing land survey in the West Bank territory by 2023. A designated action plan of a 6-18-month period was adopted aiming at providing LWSC with the needed financial and capacity building tools, advocacy efforts, accelerating the settlement process and enabling the regulatory framework in place.
