The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), UN-Habitat, Global Land Tool Network (GLTN), and the Arab Land Initiative are pleased to invite you to the Online Capacity Development Workshop on Monitoring SDG 1.4.2 through Administrative Records in the Arab Region.

This online workshop will address critical issues related to monitoring land tenure security in diverse contexts, particularly in urban environments, using administrative records. The event aims to enhance the effectiveness of monitoring and reporting on SDG 1.4.2, ultimately supporting sustainable development and gender equality in the Arab Region. It will also explore the unique challenges of data collection and the various sources of information used to capture the nuances of land tenure in these settings.

Participants will discuss the necessity of a comprehensive and inclusive data collection strategy that reflects the diversity of tenure arrangements across Arab countries. Special attention will be given to the integration of perception data, which is essential for complementing administrative data and legally recognized documentation, ensuring a holistic view of tenure security. Additionally, the workshop will address the differences and complementarities in monitoring SDG indicator 5.a.2.
