New land sector papers for Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar
The Arab Land Initiative is pleased to share four new papers on Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar. These papers, prepared by the Urban Institute of the Housing and Building National Research Center of Egypt under the leadership of UN-Habitat, present a snapshot of the sector based on land management and administration assessments conducted between 2020 and 2022.
Good land governance is essential for realizing sustainable social, economic and environmental development, peace and stability. These papers provide insight into the capacities of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Qatar to deliver good land governance by measuring their respective performance on the core land administration functions: land tenure, land value, land use, land development and land disputes resolution. They also map the existing learning offer on land governance, identifying the relevant institutions and courses available in each of the four countries.
