During the presentation and the panel session it has been discussed the importance of protecting and securing displaced women’ housing, land, and property (HLP). It explored and discuss the challenges and barriers faced by displaced women in claiming and exercising their HLP rights while in displacement and upon return, such as difficulties in accessing justice mechanisms for claiming their rights and the barriers posed by repressive social norms, poverty and loss of social networks through displacement. It has been presented efforts needed to empower and increase women’s participation in processes related to land management and HLP rights in fragile contexts, such as negotiation and mediation efforts related to access to, use of and control over land and land related resources, dispute resolution processes, land commissions, return and restitution commissions, definition of land and HLP-related provisions in peace agreements and other relevant frameworks.
