FIG and the member association from Nepal, the Nepal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (NICS), are pleased to announce the upcoming FIG Regional Conference 2024, which will take place in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 14-16 November 2024.

The overall theme of the Regional Conference is:

Climate Responsive Land Governance  and Disaster Resilience: Safeguarding Land Rights

The main objective of the event will be to build knowledge and capacity in the Asian region to address climate change and disaster-induced challenges in safeguarding the land rights of vulnerable communities, emphasizing the critical role of land governance and resilience.

The conference will serve as a call to action, providing concrete strategies and actionable recommendations for the region. It aims to ensure that participants will leave with practical insights, tools, and action plans to effectively address and implement climate and disaster-related measures.

The second objective will be to foster collaborative partnerships among national and regional institutions, academics, and professionals from various organizations, including NGOs and the private sector, to facilitate multistakeholder dialogues, knowledge sharing, and technology transfer at the regional level.

A ‘Call for Action’ publication will be produced based on the conference, engaging regional governments, professionals, and stakeholders, and featuring recommendations derived from the event.

Partners

The main international partners of the conference will be the World Bank, UN-Habitat GLTN, Kadaster Netherlands, and the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). From FIG, the Task Forces on Climate Compass and FIG and the SDGs, together with Commissions 2, 5, 7, 8, and 9, will be central to the technical program.

Programme and Call for Abstracts

The program on the two conference days, 14 and 15 November 2024, will consist of plenary sessions and 2-3 session tracks, all covering topics related to the main theme. The conference will also include a conference dinner.

A Young Surveyors Meeting will take place on 13 November, along with a World Bank Expert Meeting.
