This paper reflects the collaboration between the Arab Land Initiative and one of its partners, the ISTIDAMA Center for Land and Enlivenment Governance. It aims to enhance knowledge production and sharing about land and tenure security in Arab states. The paper focuses on land administration system in Syria, covering its historical development, various land functions, and the challenges currently facing women in land tenure, the land system. It examines legal challenges, the impact of conflict on land management, and issues related to internally displaced people and refugees land rights during and after the conflict, in addition to the informal settlements and urbanization in Syria during the conflict.
