This ‘working glossary’ has been developed as a continuously evolving working tool to support the partners of the Arab Land Initiative in their work. It was developed as a quick reference based on existing and more comprehensive land related glossaries – such as those developed by FAO, FIG, HIC, LandPortal, etc. – and it is not intended to substitute them. The focus is on providing both a quick and practical guidance about some of the most commonly used land terms. Definitions and translations often vary depending on the context and the organisation; this working glossary does not intend to indicate a preference of some descriptions or translations over others, but merely intends to give some guidance to people and organisations starting to approach the land sector. References and web addresses are included to provide more information on specific resource materials.
